Nearest Ferry: Los Cristianos at 40 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 500 Metres

The beautiful village of Los Gigantes is set on the South West coast of Tenerife. Majestic cliffs and the blue Atlantic ocean dominate the vista. The apartment boasts spectacular views over the sea to view the entire island of La Gomera and is an easy, almost horizontal, walk of some 300 metres from the village where most daily necessities can be found. This includes a supermarket and the bus stop where buses take you to a number of other destinations on the island. There is a lovely marina, good shopping and first class cuisine specialising in locally caught fish. Nearby are Puerto de Santiago and the Blue-Flag beach of Playa de la Arena, both within a short distance of each other. They are just south of the famous cliffs of Los Gigantes (The Giants), and about 20 miles (30 kilometres) north west of Los Cristianos. It is generally acknowledged that the year-round climate in this, the island’s most westerly region, is among the best in the Canaries.
The village: The commercial centre of Los Gigantes is a hundred metres or so inland from the marina, and although it isn’t particularly large, it does have a fair selection of bars and restaurants, along with a pedestrian zone centred around the old church. It is here in the central plaza, where the majority of the events take place during the town’s annual carnival, which by tradition is always during the week after Ash Wednesday. The three resorts of Los Gigantes, Puerto Santiago and Playa Arena, have now virtually all merged into one. For most people, despite the hilly nature of this part of the island, moving between the three resorts centres is fairly easy and relaxed. Once you know the route, Puerto Santiago is an enjoyable 20 minute walk away over the cliffs, and Playa Arena then a further 10 minutes or so to the south. If for whatever reason the prospect of a 30 minute walk over the cliffs isn’t appealing a taxi ride is only some €3-€4 and there are regular buses.
The Marina: The marina at Los Gigantes is also the departure point for numerous boat trips out to see the dolphin and whale colonies which live between the west coast of Tenerife and the neighbouring island of La Gomera. These trips offer superb value for money compared to those offered by the large tour operators, and you will be almost guaranteed a free child place along with the offer of a free trip next day if you don’t see anything. The full details of the range of trips and services available at Los Gigantes Marina can also be found at their web site www.losgigantesmarina.com
